York Chiller Repair for Both Air-cooled and Water-cooled York® Chillers.
York chiller repair and service is something that we take seriously. We are installers and servicers for all York® scroll, screw, variable speed screw and centrifugal chillers.
Quality York chiller repair starts with a correct understanding of the type of chiller to be repaired or serviced. This includes air-cooled or water-cooled chillers. In these categories, there are different compressor types as previously mentioned.
Knowing your York® chiller type and model number helps to make the service call a better experience for you and your team.
Air-Cooled York Chiller Repair
York® air-cooled chillers generally come in sizes from 15 ton to 500 ton capacities. They operate as variable speed screw or scroll type chillers. The variable screw type compressor is more common and seems to be gaining in new installations each year. Variable speed screw chillers are offered from 150 ton to 500 ton capacities.
Air-cooled York chiller repair and service begins with diagnosis and listening to the people that use the chiller daily or with greater frequencies. Listening to our customer about specific behavior patterns, helps us to better understand the best course for repairing your air-cooled York® chiller. We work hard to restore factory performance with the least amount of costs involved.
When it comes to scroll chillers from York®, the models offered today include the YCAL and YLAA Scroll Chillers. These range in sizes from 15 ton to 230 ton, with the YLAA models including variable-speed drive fans.
Many of the York® air-cooled chillers that are in service today are in their YVAA variable speed drive screw chiller series. These are of a patented, liquid cooled variety and customized to specific job requirements.
These, as with all York chillers do require maintenance for optimal performance and reliability. Give us a call to learn more about the maintenance for your particular model and tonnage.
Included in the variable speed screw chiller line up is the YVFA Free Cooling and the YCIV models. These range from 150 ton to 500 ton capacities. More about these specific models is included below as a general quick reference.
Our goal is to provide you as our customer a complete understanding of how-to best repair or service your York® air-cooled chiller. Our factory trained and certified installers and servicers will get you back up and running as soon as possible with the least amount of cost.
Water-Cooled York Chiller Repair
York® water-cooled chillers generally come in sizes from 125 ton to 5,500 ton capacities. They operate as variable speed screw, scroll and centrifugal types. Refrigerant options come in R-410A, R-513A or R-134a.
Water-cooled York chiller repair and service begins with diagnosis and listening to the people that use the chiller daily or with greater frequencies. Listening to our customer about what the 'behavior' patterns have been for the chiller helps us to better understand the best course for repairing your chiller. We work hard to restore factory performance with the least amount of costs involved.
York® water-cooled chillers that are in service today are designed for either replacement or new commercial construction applications depending on the needs and requirements.
These plants include the YMC, YZ, YK, YVWA, YCWL, YK-EP, YST, Titanâ„¢ OM and the CYK series of water-cooled chillers. More about each one of these models is included below.
Again, when you are choosing who you want to come and repair or service your chiller, trust factory certified professionals to do the job right the first time.
Our main goal is to provide you as our customer a complete understanding of how-to best repair or service your York® water-cooled chiller. Our certified installers and servicers will get you back up and running as soon as possible with the least amount of cost.

Routine York® Chiller Maintenance Allows for Optimal Heat Transfer Efficiency
Your York® commercial chiller relies on heat transfer efficiency to perform its duty. Heat transfer is the process of removing heat from the chiller and then disposing it outside of the unit. This applies to all the parts of the equipment, especially its refrigeration circuitry.
In short, a chiller's heat transfer efficiency depends on maintenance schedules. Ongoing maintenance. Here is a quick list of best practice items to add to your schedule:
- Condenser Coils: Inspection of condenser coils includes the cleaning of these coils. Heat transfer through these coils is critical. Routine cleaning of the coils includes removing and debris, dirt and other buildups that may clog and reduce free air flow.
- Refrigerant Charge: Proper refrigerant levels are also especially important for your York® chiller to maintain its cooling quotient. Maintaining refrigerant charge will help your chiller reduce energy usage and cooling costs by up to 10%. Contact us today to have us come out and level up your refrigerant levels if you notice more energy consumption.
The same holds true if you are noticing that your York® chiller is working harder than normal to accomplish the same tasks. These tasks are all part of our York repair and service schedule that we offer. - Condenser Water: For water-cooled chillers, condenser water loops used with cooling towers need to maintain the system designed amount of water flow. If the water loop becomes contaminated with debris, sand, corrosion, scaling and other foreign materials, this will slow water flow. A reduced amount of water flow in the loop can impact the chiller's operating efficiency.
With regular commercial chiller maintenance, you can keep these issues from arising. At the very least, this includes clearing clogs in condenser tubes and brushing them at least once a year.
Regular Maintenance Keeps Your York Chiller Repair Bills Lower
At the end of the day, your York® chiller operates as part of a rather complex HVAC-R system. Cooling tower systems that are tied into a water-cooled York® chiller, have even greater complexity and require better system monitoring to reduce energy consumption.
Therefore, when we evaluate a York® chiller and its system performance, we are also including these other components and their power consumption. These components include the compressor, cooling tower fans, pumps, etc. to determine kW/ton efficiency.
An Energy-Efficient York® Chiller Produces Fewer Greenhouse Gases
Optimizing the overall chiller plant should be performed regularly to reduce energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gases. This process takes a close look at adjusting chilled water set points, sequencing and load balancing other chillers in process, peak demand management, water loop management, etc.
These items require data and analysis of that data for the best optimization. We understand system optimization and can help you get your York® chiller plant to perform to its utmost efficiency.
